Bristol Rovers are reported to have stepped up their interest in Darryl Duffy

Rovers interest in the striker who only arrived at Swansea last summer was confirmed a few weeks ago and since then Rovers have been linked with Nottingham Forest flop Grant Holt as well as Wayne Andrews from Coventry who played once for Rovers on loan last season.

But it is Duffy - the scorer of just one league goal last season - who remains at the top of their wanted list for the summer and Paul Trollope sees him as an ideal strike partner for Ricky Lambert who they hope to tie into a new contract over the coming weeks.

It is suggested that Rovers have been in contact with Swansea and made progress towards a deal in terms of the valuation for the striker - it has been reported that the Swans will accept £100,000 - a significant loss on their investment of over double that last summer.

Duffy was the drawn out transfer saga of last year when the Swans battled with Hartlepool to gain his signature after a successful loan spell the season before.  But Duffy has failed to live up to those levels of performance and the expectations laid on him and it seems as if the Swans are prepared to cash in as they prepare for life in the Championship.

Roberto has been rumoured to be looking at strikers from abroad - both Spainish and Dutch have been mentioned for obvious reasons - and there are still reports that there could be the possibility of a move for recently released Blackpool striker Keigan Parker.

The summer is developing into an interesting one for the Swans and dramatically different from those we have seen in recent seasons when it was a case of releasing players and signing free transfers.  Nobody though is expecting huge sums of cash to be exchanged but it is very easy to see half a dozen or more new faces coming in between now and the start of pre-season at the end of June.

By which time it appears that Darryl Duffy will be a Pirate.
