Liverpool winger Paul Anderson is expected to make an announcement on his future this week

Derby, Watford and Burnley are also reported to be in the hunt for the player who was so important to the Swans last season - scoring freely from the wide positions that he played with so much style.

And whilst the Swans may appear to an outsider to be at the back of that queue, Swansea manager Roberto Martinez believes that he still has a great chance of securing Anderson's services for a longer period of time.

As the Swans watch some of their Championship rivals already flexing their spending muscles, it has been a quiet time at the Liberty to date but Swans fans could take heart from the fact that little was spent last season with spectacular results.

Speaking to the Evening Post, the Swans manager said "Liverpool have been thinking long and hard about Paul's situation and I know there has been a lot of interest in him," said the Swansea boss.

"That's a compliment to us because 10 months ago there were not many people asking for Paul. Now, because of what he has done and the way we worked together, there are a lot of clubs interested.

"We can only hope that Paul wants a bit of stability and that he wants to find out about the next level with ourselves.

"It looked for a time as though Liverpool wanted to cash in on Paul this summer, but it now looks like he's going to go out on another year's loan and then Liverpool will make a decision," Martinez added.

"I think the decision on where he goes now is going to come down to what he wants, and we just hope he wants to come back and play for us. He knows how much we want him and he knows how much the fans want him, but we just have to wait and see."
