Jack Brown Closes The Book

Home > Story Index > Jack Brown Closes The Book

The latter is highly unlikely as rumours predict that Kevin Reeves currently at Wrexham will be joining hot favourite Brian Flynn at Swansea before the weekend. Flynn is from Port Talbot and a friend of board member Huw Jenkins, however nobody at Swansea City is making any comment at all about this latest development. Radio Wales and Real Radio are predicting a change even if The Swans win at Boston on Wednesday ( KO 7.45 PM ) which signals that Nick Cusack could be, sadly, involved in his last game as Swansea manager. Cusack has a playing contract at the club which takes him through until May 2003 but it is predicted that he will leave if Flynn is appointed. Swans fans should remember that Cusack is still Chairman of the PFA , and much respected as an advisor to players at all levels in the game. Ex Swans players Ian Walsh and Dai Davies have both echoed their support for Nick Cusack, Davies stating that he needs extra time to get things right at the club. However, we do know that Cusack's tenure was going to be reviewed after seven games by the board irrespective of results. Of course with a more positive start we wouldn't be bringing you this news today. Reports that Peter Nicholas and Leighton James would be at the club too are very wide of the mark. We are led to believe that Nicholas muted the fact he would return to the club to help out. This soon developed in to a story that he was returning to Swansea City as manager. Something the current board would not entertain at any level after the departure of Nicholas a few months ago. We have full details of Nicholas's departure, and it is safe to say that he will still be manager of Llanelli come Saturday. This will come as a relief to many Swans fans. Others in the running are muted to be John Aldridge, a definite outside bet. Cusack will make changes for the Boston game after the miserable display on Saturday at Wrexham, and this could be the game that changes Swansea's season with a home match against Torquay at The Vetch Field on Saturday ( KO 3PM ) six points are up for grabs that could turn the season around. If there is a change at the top on Thursday morning when the club are expected to make an announcement to the press we wish Nick Cusack well. He has done all that the fans asked for, but sadly with time not on his side and players who are not showing the fight the supporters require of people honoured to wear the white shirt of Swansea. It may be too late. And if that's the case the playing staff at Swansea City must take responsibility too. For it is they at the end of it all who hold the key to all of this and the experienced players signed a few months ago like David Moss, David Smith and Paul Reid, no matter their argument of non selection at times and with their experience should have dragged us back fighting to respectability this season. They haven't to date, maybe they will perform for someone else. And if that someone else is Brian Flynn we have no choice but to support him, but I get the feeling that the patience offered to Nick Cusack from the North Bank will not be in abundance when it comes to Flynn. Time will tell, the rollercoaster has started again.
