The deal to make Kevin Nugent a permanent member of the Swansea City squad has stumbled upon a problem with the transfer now not going through before the weekend visit of Cambridge. |
Brian Flynn had hoped to tie up the deal for the 33-year old before the weekend game but the official site reports tonight that he hopes to tie the deal up over the weekend. Flynn is quoted as saying "It's hit a snag but we are hoping to resolve the situation over the weekend" |
Flynn has refused to elaborate on this statement and it fuels rumours that another third division club is competing with us to secure Nugent's services. The other club is un-named at present but with his record in the month at Swansea City, it is not hard to see that others would sit up and take notice. |
Nugent's loan officially finishes on Monday and it would be a bitter blow for Flynn if he has to send the striker back with the Swans having taken 10 points since he arrived at the club. Nugent himself was keen on Swansea and we would hope that even with our budget restraints we are able to secure this signing. |
One thing does seem sure in that Nugent will be on the move from Leyton Orient next week - let's hope it is our way and that the 'snag' is not a major one. |
