Swansea End Tournament On A High

Swans End Tournament On A High

Goals from Brad Maylett, Richard Duffy, James Thomas and an own goal were enough to finish off the Northern Irish side after yesterday's 2-0 defeat to Aberdeen left them in the play-off.

It was a much changed side that Brian Flynn sent out with only Brian Murphy and Leon Hylton from yesterday's starting line-up starting the match with this very much looking like the second string side we can expect to see next season.

Brad Maylett opened the scoring on the half hour mark as he ran clear of the defence to finish with some style before Coleraine grabbed an equaliser five minutes before the break before Swansea restored their lead with an own goal on the half time mark.

Second half goals from Richard Duffy and James Thomas completed a comprehensive win for the Swans before they head out to Holland on Monday morning. There has been yet another change in the fixtures for this tour with the opening game now being against Non-League SV Delta Sport. The whol dutch trip has turned into one state of confusion with the opening game now being on it's third opponents since the tour dates were first announced.

Indeed, Swans fans in Holland have questioned whether we were ever to play Den Haag's first team with their fixture lists stating that they were playing 'Westlands XI' on that date. Swansea, it is believed were due to play Young ADO on Tuesday which makes you wonder even more why the mayor of Den Haag called off the game when it was, what sounds like a youth side not the first side that were in action.

Whether this changed or not after the fixtures were announced or not we are not sure but the decision to call off a youth team game because of some trouble in Chester just doesn't seem to add up to me?

Still, in two weeks time what is becoming a laughable pre-season will be all forgotten and the real action will be underway.
