Boston v Swansea - Match Preview

BOSTON V SWANSEA - MATCH PREVIEW

It's back to business tonight as Brian Flynn takes his Swans side to Lincolnshire to take on Boston United. With this season's tremendous cup run over, the quest for vital League points must begin in earnest. With a play-off berth now ten points away, the Swans must start converting their games in hand into points, and what better place to start than against 19th place Boston. The pilgrims currently lie just one point above the drop zone and have picked up just one win in their last five games.

With 18 games to play and without the distraction of the F.A. cup, there can be no more excuses for our stuttering League form. We must start putting points on the board if we're to have any chance of making the play-offs. Although the cup run provided some memorable moments and some much needed funds, the ultimate aim has to be to get out of the League's basement division. The simple fact is that the form we've been showing so far in 2004 has been more akin to a team battling relegation, not fighting for promotion. The next 11 days will see us play 4 vital games which could well shape the rest of our season and in my opinion we should be looking to pick up a minimum of 9 points if we're to get our promotion charge back on track.

If this is to happen, there will have to be a dramatic improvement in the form which has seen us pick up just 2 points this year. After our explosive start to the season, away wins have been hard to come by for the Swans. In fact we have to go back to October last year for our last away victory, so it's vital that we end that particular sequence tonight.

So there we have it, the glamour of the cup is now a distant memory. The fight for League points begins this evening and continues at Kidderminster on Saturday. The play-offs are still within our grasp, let's get behind the boys and make sure they don't slip away.
