Trundle Could Return As Swans Take On Dale

Rochdale v Swansea - Match Preview

It's three games unbeaten for the Swans after they followed up wins over Leyton Orient and Cambridge with a credible draw against league leaders Doncaster at the Vetch last Friday.

Swansea seem certain to name an unchanged line up from the team that started against Doncaster although top scorer Lee Trundle may make an appearance on the bench after recovering quicker than expected from a hamstring injury. Personally I would rather see him rested for this game than to see him rushed back as, like many believe, some of our other player have been earlier in the season.

Rochdale will be without Swans target Paul Connor who has mysteriously picked up a shin injury which will conveniently allow him to sit out the game. Connor is currently thinking over a move to the Swans after the two sides agreed a fee for him.

Daryl Burgess is back for the visitors though having sat out the last two games through suspension although Pat McCourt will again miss out through a dead leg.

Swansea's chances of a play off spot have increased over recent weeks with a decent run of results and, no disrespect to the visitors, this is a game that the Swans simply have to win if they are to maintain that push for the play offs. With games to come against Southend, Macclesfield and Scunthorpe, the Swans should be aiming for a minimum return of 9 points from the next four games to push hard for the play off space before meeting fellow candidates Mansfield and Huddersfield both away from home.

A lower crowd is expected compared to that that witnessed the game on Friday night but with a very low away support, the crowd can again act as the extra man which will hopefully spur the Swans onto victory.

Let's hope so anyway.
