Pre-Season Guide To...Yeovil Town

2004/2005 Preview - Yeovil Town

LAST SEASON

It was a narrow miss on the play offs for Yeovil as the cider men missed out on the last day of the season..

WHAT HAVE THEY BEEN UP TO THIS SUMMER?

It's been a busy summer down in Somerset as Yeovil have no fewer than 8 new faces in time for the big kick off. The imaginatively named Yemi Odubade, Keize Ibe, Bartosz Tarachulski and Nicolas Mirza joined early signings Scott Guyett, Adrian Caceres, Michael Rose and Phil Jevons in the squad.

Out at the end of last season went Kirk Jackson, Nick Crittenden, Jake Edwards, Nathan Talbott, Ryan Northmore and alleged one time Swans target Jamie Gosling.

WHO ARE THEIR FAMOUS FANS?

Comedian Richard Digance and politician Paddy Ashdown can both be found at Huish Park..

5 THINGS THE LOCALS SAY ABOUT YEOVIL

  1. "the hole in the wall is the only "proper" pub in Yeovil. no tossers or people who "love" themselves in there"

  2. "The good thing with living in Yeovil is you can get most of what you need here, but if thats not enough you have got London in 2hrs, Bristol 1hr,various beaches in three quarters of an hour and green countryside within mins. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT !??.."

  3. "oo-ar oi've gorra brand new combine harvester and Oi'll give you the kee"

  4. "I lived in Yeovil until 1995 and I couldn't wait to move out to Bristol. I still go back at Christmas, and I see the webbed handed, buck teethed Trevs are still about, still clad in the styles from 8 years back, shellsuits and knot top hair cuts. Last time I was there one of them walked up to me, grunted at me and walked away laughing. F king weirdos. Well, you see what happens when cousins marry"

  5. "the place is a load of bland housing estates built around a fetid core, where the teenage inhabitants attempt to gain some meaning in their small, boring boring boring lives by doing handbreak turns in Tesco's car park."

ARE WE ANY GOOD AGAINST YEOVIL?

Well it was one win and one draw last season so the answer is we are okay. Strangely, we have never won there and they have never won here!!. For the full list of results, click here

WHEN DO WE PLAY THEM?

September 4th we head into the West Country to meet Yeovil whilst they will be nursing their hangovers as they visit the Vetch on New Years Day.

IF I WANT TO FIND OUT MORE WHERE DO I GO?

The Dry Blackthorn factory will be a good start but failing that click the banner belowr.

WHAT ARE THEIR CHANCES NEXT SEASON?

They will be pushing hard for automatic promotion all season but at the end of it they will have to settle for the lottery that is the play offs.
