Take Two In Round Two For Swans

After the disappointment of Saturday's defeat at Scunthorpe it's back to the FA Cup for the Swans as the Vetch plays host to what will most likely be the last every tie in the competition to be played at the old ground.

This time last year the Swans couldn't stop being drawn at home but this time it has been different with a trip to Reading on January 8 being the reward for the victors tomorrow night in a game that must be played to a finish. With Reading riding high in the Championship you would fancy them to edge past either of these sides on their own pitch and therefore this could be the swansong in the FA Cup for the Vetch.

The Swans second lowest crowd of the season is expected to witness the game that has come on the back of just one win in five for Kenny Jackett's promotion candidates - a run continued last Saturday is a poor performance against leaders Scunthorpe. With Stockport being the first of four home games in the next five, it is time for the Swans to string together a string of results again that will see them back in contention for the title as well as looking forward to a 3rd round date.

Sam Ricketts is an injury doubt for the Swans with Izzy Iriekpen poised to make a return to action if Ricketts is passed unfit whilst there is likely to be a start for Andy Robinson as he plays his last game before sitting out another one match suspension after being booked for the 5th time At Scunthorpe. Paul Connor could return to the starting line up ahead of Kevin Nugent.

Bottom of League One Stockport come to the Vetch as underdogs for the game with Warren Feeney, James Spencer and Lee Cartwright all facing their own late fitness checks. Damien Allen is also doubtful in midfield but Mark Robertson should play.

Whether this game is a welcome or unwelcome distraction for the Swans at this moment in time remains to be seen but another crack at the 3rd round would not go unwelcome for Jackett's team.
