And Now, The End Is Near....

The overcoat is on the finishing touches are being applied and the pitch likely to be laid sooner than Charlotte Church on a Bonfire Night in Splott.

But where will we be next season will we continue to be with the dead men, the misfits, the small town England brigade or will be face up to the likes of Sheffield Wednesday,Swindon,Cardiff ,Forest. At present it all points to the latter rather than the former and as long as form continues then Whiterock will be home to a new level of Football and offerings of fleeting glimpses of even better times in the future.

So who is likely to stop us in our quest to get out of this rattrap and where are the challenges going to come from.

Clearly Yeovil by anyones stretch of the imagination will go up automatically and when looking at their remaining fixtures, most are against lower placed clubs, they remain favourites to take the title and if they did no one could begrudge them it.

Scunthorpe now heres an enigma they have to play nearly all the mid table sides but also 5 of the top 7 all away, their February fixtures is make or break for them they play just about all their rivals one after the other, a good chance for the Swans forge ahead. These guys are excellent or rubbish and i think they will fall away but be in the Play Offs.

Southend neat side but will they have the wherewithal at the end to last the pace they have a good spread of, as Brucey would say, Top Middle or Bottom clubs but they have to play the remaining 6 of the top 7. They have to win most of these to catch the top 3. A valiant effort but Play Offs I feel for the Shrimpers.

Cobblers yep they are and we don't particularly care for them but they have all the top sides to play at home, difficult side to beat at home (1 defeat) but lots of draws, they play 11 of the top 13 and again its Play Offs for them.

Darlington my dark horses they only have 4 of the current top 8 to play and most of their games are against bottom placed sides, they will have the late run they will be third.

Lincoln will be sturdy fighters and with £750k ready for spending they will be a tough nut alas however they are in Lincolnshire and there's something about Lincolnshire that most people don't like, and that includes people from Lincolnshire themselves. They have every single one of the top 14 to play and they will be the ones currently in the mix who will miss out.

This of course leaves one play off spot and one Automatic place. The Play off spot will be between Macc and wait for it Oxford (i somehow could not bring myself to type Man.......... ) oh bugger its just too near Lincolnshire for me. Oxford are lurking and getting a little steel to their play, the only thing to stop themis lack of goals and this I feel will let Macca in for the final slot for the Play offs.

Leaving just one Automatic Spot and as loath and as superstitious as I am, I have to plump for the Jack Army as playing higher grade football next year. The squad is defining itself nicely and the team spirit(sponsored by Revolution next year) is something not seen for quite sometime. Then of course throw into the mix Our Man Ken, I don't think he will allow us to fail. His good habit of getting under peoples skin by being nice to their face is a class act.

We have some tough fixtures but with nearly all remaining home games likely to be sell outs or close to it, the Holy Grail is there. Time to get serious and start playing with the bigger boys now.

So its a top 3 of Yeovil, Jacks and Darlo with Northampton winning the play offs ahead of the rest

No Shrewsbury for Mr B this year my last games will be Oxford, Cambridge and Grimsby, I won't shed a tear on my last day at the Old Lady i will look back at the good times and look forward to even better ones in our new home that we have all dreamt about for so long.

Juventus,Spain and Wednesday the first 3 games at Whiterock mmmmmmmm worth the wait I feel

Cmon the Jacks

Who Are We
