What a player, he had it all, was good in the air, a fierce tackler, could pass with precision, had pace to burn and had an eye for goal. Thick set and barrel chested he looked your average journeyman central midfielder but he seemed to glide over the turf like no man I have seen before or since, I remember the Arsenal and England full back Kenny Samson showing him the outside and Robbie taking up the challenge and leaving Samson in his wake, he could mix it with the hardmen of the day, Souness was a quivering idiot when Robbie took him to task in one particular nasty Wales/Scotland encounter. Robbie was the most complete player I have ever seen, what would he be worth today?
