Will You Help?

Stand Up, Sit Down

Stand Up Sit Down are two years old this summer and are just starting to make real and visible progress, unfortunately not in terms of forcing the authorities to deviate from their mantra "we can't have another Hillsborough" but in terms of the support we're getting from fellow football fans. With the help of supporters at West Ham and Manchester City - both financial and practically - we had two great Yellow Card the FLA protests that were fantastically supported as was the protest Spurs organised last season.

From reading websites I know that there are very few clubs in the country who are exempt from ever draconian attempts to make supporters sit; many have been banned and clubs are being threatened with the withdrawal of their safety certificates meaning stands will be closed. We need to persuade the Government that rather than driving away supporters from the game they should be working with us to ensure that separate areas are introduced for those who wish to stand. We recognise that some supporters don't necessarily want to stand but have to due to those in front of them doing so, our objectives accommodate the sitters just as much they do the standers; simply, believe strongly that we should be afforded choice.

I'm also aware that many fans realise that nothing will change unless they are prepared to give up their time to work with other like minded supporters. Alone and as individual groups we stand the chance of lessening any impact we have. Combined we are stronger and therefore can wield more influence. If, after reading this you do nothing more than sign our petition and become a member, you're making a contribution if you contact us with offers of financial and practical help you could make a difference.

If you are interested in meeting with like minded supporters to discuss how we can further drive forward Stand Up Sit Down please contact us at info@standupsitdown.co.uk.

Thank you.
