Brown Considers Premiership Move - But Not Sealed

Brown Looks At Premiership Bench

"We're 99 per cent certain that it will all be finalised" Swans Chairman Huw Jenkins

Maybe not one that was Huw's fault but a last minute intervention from Mark Hughes has seen Jason Brown elect to turn his back on the Swans and enter into talks with Blackburn Rovers.

It is believed that Brown has not actually held talks with Blackburn as yet although he will be going to Lancashire next week for talks. As yet there is no concrete offer given to the player and he may yet end up back at Swansea to sign the contract that contains acceptable terms

The automatic choice for Brown would be a Premiership club but is a place on Blackburn's bench at best in reality the best move for someone who has just made his international debut? I can always understand players wanting to play at the highest level but unless it seems likely you will feature near the first team there are many examples of players who have chased the Premiership dream and seen careers nose dive as a direct result when longer careers and better prospects may have evolved with a longer spell at a lower division.

These are factors that Jason will need to decide on when he arrives at Blackburn for talks next week plus there is always the chance that the offer they make him may not be as attractive overall as the one he has elsewhere. Jason will surely realise that he has much more chance of first team football at the Liberty Stadium then Ewood Park which in turn enhances international chances which in turn increases shop window exposure.

This is not to say that Brown will choose Swansea over Blackburn, nor saying that he should do but there is more to this as a factor than just being part of the set up at a Premiership club and throughout the football leagues there are examples of players that can add value to the statement.

It's a big week in the career of Jason Brown, for his own sake I hope he makes the right decision. But as it stands at the moment that decision has very much still got to be made and is not quite final. And where there is chance there is hope?
