Jackett And Chairman Agree On Targets

Jackett And Chairman Agree

Kenny Jackett was in agreement with his chairman yesterday as he agreed ater the game with the comments made by Huw Jenkins in the matchday magazine that said recent performances were not up to scratch and a minimum return of 10 points from the net 5 games were a requirement.

Jenkins said "Our performance levels against Brighton and Blackpool were way below the levels required to come anywhere near where we should be. The next five games have taken on a far greater importance than it should have been at this time of the season. But a minimum points target of 10 from a possible 15 may just about keep us in touch with the top two.

"Having spoken with a number of supporters over the past few weeks, I feel that they, like me, believe that unless we are careful over the next few weeks the momentum we have gained over the past two to three years will start to slow down. We must do everything in our power to make sure that this does not happen."

And, after the 5-0 demolition of Carlisle, Jackett said I heard what the chairman said and I agreed with him - we didn't play anywhere near our best in recent games.

"The chairman says how he sees it - he's honest and he's summed the situation up. The fact is we don't want to be outside the promotion places. There's a big gap between ourselves and the top - and coming into a crucial stage of the season we can't afford to let people pull away.

"We're back in the top six and the aim is to stay there so we need to be looking for 10 or 13 points from the next five. This was a good win and I'm a happy man - but it's only three points and we want more of the same"

And so do we please Kenny
