Striker Pawel Abbott signed from Huddersfield for a fee believed to be around £150,000 on a two and a half year deal. The 24 year old, who was also a Polish Under-21 International, started his career at Polish club LKS Lodz, before joining Preston at the age of 19.
He made two loan spells with Bury and then signed for Huddersfield in 2004 for a fee of £125,000. He has scored 48 league goals in three seasons for Huddersfield, in just 83 starts; he spent a lot of his time at the Galpharm on the bench. His last goals for the Terriers were ironically against Swansea in December.
In the 2003-04 season he scored 26 goals at League One level, so he's more than capable of scoring goals at this level. He will provide good competition for Trundle and Akinfenwa; he is also eligible to play in the FA Cup this season.
