Trundle has become a Swans legend in his four years at the club - notching 20 goals in each season - but St Johnstone manager Owen Coyle thinks that the new man will be as big a success at the Swans.

Speaking in the News of the World, Coyle said "I've got not doubts Jason will be a raoring success at Swansea. The Swansea people really love Lee Trundle and rightly so because he's very skillful.

"But their fans will also love Jason. He's going to be a big hit in that part of Wales. Jason was a big favourite at St Johnstone and Dundee United before that.

"Whenever he had the ball there was always an air of excitement. I've worked with Jason so I know him very well. His natural ability is second to none. He scored goals out of nothing.

"He can beat two or three players and then stick the ball in the net - he's that type of player. The Swansea fans will take to Jason because he scored goals. I'm confident he will get 20 plus goals next season. In face, now he's a Swansea player I'm going to put a bet on them winning League One.

"Jason has got all the attributes you could ask for in a striker. He's powerful, got decent pace and can shoot with both feet. He's so strong not even Chelsea's John terry would be able to knock him off the ball.

"He could do better in the air - but I know that's an aspect of his game he's working on. There was a few Scottish Premier League clubs who wanted to sign him. He's been in Scotland for four years and felt it was time to push on and play down south. He's going to go from strength to strength.

"Roberto has brought in Jason, a new lad from Spain and he's also gone out and got Darryl Duffy. Fair play to him, he's really pushed the boat out. Roberto knows you can never have enough goalscorers."

Meanwhile Roberto himself has said that he hopes his relationship with Liverpool and their manager Rafael Benitez will propel his side to the Championship "It's been good for us to keep an eye on all the youngsters he has directed our way. It's great to have him as a contact and I have known him for some time now. Hopefully this tie-up will be beneficial for Swansea where we will see a few more players coming here."

And when questioned on the subject of his number one keeper, Martinez added "The way I see it we have signed a goalkeeper in De Vries to challenge another goalkeeper in Gueret. They are simply going to have to battle for the shirt."
