Both players are expected to be valuable additions to the squad and both fill positions that many fans suggest weren't filled correctly last season. And both revealed that the manager was one of the main reasons for them picking Swansea ahead of other options that they had available. Speaking in the Western Mail today 'The Dutch Roy Keane' Ferrie Bodde said

"Roberto is the main reason I came to Swansea. There were a couple of other clubs interested in me but I got a good feeling about the gaffer and I think he can take the club to a higher level.

"I have always liked the English leagues and I really like how people live for their football over here. I played in Holland for a long time but this is my dream now.

"I want to play in the Premiership and I want to progress with Swansea. With the players we have I think it's possible.

"The gaffer has a certain style of play and he wants to bring the group to a higher level. He wants us to play football, not just kick and run, and that's how I like to play."

"I like it here in Wales and Swansea is a lovely city The people have been very nice to my family and if the weather can improve, it will be great.

The Dutch pair played together at Den Haag before de Vries moved to Scotland and Bodde admits the arrival of his former team-mate has helped him settle down in Swansea.

"I played with Dorus for three years at Den Haag and I know him very well," he said. "I was very happy when he came here, it has made things much easier for my family."

And De Vries is equally as praising of his new gaffer "From the first moment I arrived it has been magnificent, Roberto gave me a call and straight away the personal contact I had with him was brilliant.

"He made it clear he really wanted me, the club showed great interest and that gave me a good feeling about Swansea. I'm very proud to be playing here.

"I have been quite surprised from day one with the level of football here. Swansea are a big club and the standard of players is high enough for the club to reach the Championship."

And whilst both Ducth parties are happy with the arrangement, Robetro is equally as delighted with his captures - both of whom will be heading back into their homeland with the rest of the squad when the Dutch tour kicks off later this week.

"Ferrie is a great player and he is covering a big, big gap that we had in our playing staff," he said. "I am delighted he has come in and given us that extra option.

"He will have to fight for his place like everyone else, but it's great that we have got him into our football club."

He added, "Dorus had a fantastic season with Dunfermline last year. He is a diamond and his performances for a struggling side in a tough league tells you a lot about him.

"As soon as you meet the guy you realise he is hungry, he wants to be successful and I think he will a big hit with the Swansea crowd."
