Managers Disagree Over Penalty Decision
Managers Disagree Over Penalty Decision

Colin Calderwood and Roberto Martinez were in disagreement over the decision to award the Swans a penalty on Saturday

The game was evenly poised at 1-1 when the referee deemed a foul had been committed on Tom Butler in the penalty area and Ferrie Bodde stepped up to see his penalty saved but he converted the rebound to give the Swans the lead.  A lead it has to be say they thoroughly deserved on the balance of play.

Having dominated for large periods of the game, the Swans went onto record a 3-1 victory thanks to a goal from Pintado but it was the decision to award the penalty that got the two managers talking after the game.

"Once you get in the area you can't tackle a player like that" was all that Swansea manager Roberto Martinez had to say possibly showing some sympathy for his counterpart but if he was thinking it wasn't a penalty he certainly wasn't going to come out and say it.

Calderwood though was far less reserved as he ranted "You saw it.

"You don't want a game hanging on a decision that was very questionable, particularly when you've come behind after the opposition had a real good spell in the first half. You think when that happens that you might be on for a hard-earned victory."

Had Forest got that victory then they could have easily left the Liberty wearing their masks suggesting daylight robbery against the Swans.
