Ashley Williams has reacted to the criticism heading his way following Wales defeat against Georgia

Williams and his defensive partner Craig Morgan have been the subject of criticism as Wales slipped to a disappointing defeat against Georgia at the Liberty Stadium last Wednesday.

An under strength Wales side lost 2-1 to a late goal and many have already written off the chances of making the World Cup Finals in 2010.

The road to those finals start next month with games against Azerbaijan and Russia and Williams has been included in the squad for those two games that was announced on Friday.

And the Swansea defender - an ever present in the Championship so far - as asked to be given time with Wednesday being the first time that he and Morgan have played together.

Williams told today's News of the World "The Georgia game was the firs time Craig and I have played together.

"We haven't got many caps and last season we were both in League Two.

"Good defensive partnerships only come about after a lot of time working together.  We're now 90 minutes older as far as experience is concerned."
