Matthew Phillips introduces us to the man in the middle for the Cardiff game

Sunday’s referee is Martin Atkinson from West Yorkshire, he started his refereeing career when he was 16 in the local leagues and he became a Football League referee in 2003-04. He has also takes charge of matches in the Premier League and Champions League.

Martin has been in charge of 10 Premier League games this season and this will be his second Championship game of the season. He averages nearly 3 yellows per game and has issued just 2 red cards (both of those in a Championship match).

He is a very experienced referee so hopefully he will be in control and not let things get out of hand.
