Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez has cooled speculation over signing a fourth striker after the departure of Fabien Brandy.

Martinez does face the very real prospect of having only two recognised strikers at the club for up to two weeks due to Gorka Pintado's hernia operation due to be conducted on the 11th February. Pintado was scheduled to go under the surgeons knife this week but delayed his operation in Munich to help the club through a tough January fixture list as the Swans boss alluded to this week he told the SWEP, “So we will make sure that Gorka gets the operation when it suits the team. In that respect, we will be fine in that position."

Looking to the players already on the Swansea books, Martinez believes that on loan winger Nathan Dyer can more than fill in the gaps in the squad he said “Nathan has come in and he can fill that space. He can play out wide or up front.”

The Spaniard has also given Guillem Bauza a confidence boost and has hinted that the 24 year old striker could have a big role to play in the later part of the season he added “ Bussy is strong, full of confidence and is looking forward to having a big impact in the second half of the season, as he always does”

Swansea have been linked with Carlisle United's Danny Graham, whilst on trial Dutchman John Verhoek could be another option for the Liberty Stadium club.
