Joe Allen admits that he would love to follow the example of Aaron Ramsey

The Swansea City midfielder is a man with a growing stock.   Now a regular in the Swansea City side his performances are grabbing the attention not just of the fans but of the growing number of scouts who can be seen at the Liberty on matchdays.

And his weekend display against Reading will only add to that as Joe put in a near faultless performance in the Swans 2-0 victory over the promotion chasing team.

And Allen admits that he would love to follow the example of Aaron Ramsey - the teenager who made a multi million pound move from Cardiff to Arsenal last season.

Allen told the Western Mail “Aaron obviously did fantastically well last year when he was still only 17

“We have to look up to him after that and now I want to try and achieve the things he has.

“It’s always been my dream to play for my country. I’d like to think I will one day. Performances like this one against Reading won’t hurt me at all. But I know I have to keep improving for it to happen.

“Playing in the Championship week in, week out will certainly help.

“But I have to keep my feet on the ground and make sure I stay in the Swansea team first.

“We have a really competitive squad here. So my number one focus has to be keeping my place in the Swans team and, if that happens, hopefully Wales will follow one day.

“I had a few games for Swansea last year, but I needed more experience and going on loan gave me that

“Then it was just a case of making sure I took my chance here when it came along.

“I don’t think I did take it last year, but I have learnt from that this time round.

“Every game is just as important as the next and I know I have to keep delivering week in, week out.

“Things are obviously going really well for me at the moment.

“But I’ve got to keep working and hopefully I can get a good run in the team.”
