Swansea captain Garry Monk does not believe that victory over Fulham would be a huge surprise

Monk led his Swansea City team mates to victory over Portsmouth in the last round and will look to repeat that tomorrow against Fulham - making him the first captain for over 40 years to lead the team into the quarter finals.

And whilst to some it would be a shock, Monk is confident that his team can do the job asked of them and believes that the reality is it would not be as big a shock as some make out.

Some of the bookmakers already have the Championship team down as favourites which is a massive compliment to the Swans but that is not something that the home team are taking as granted but there is a definite confidence shining through at the moment - as there should be after an unbeaten run stretching to almost three months.

Monk told the Evening Post "The build-up and media attention we have had this week has shot through the roof

"It shows how much this competition means to a lot of people — it is the best domestic competition in the world.

"The FA Cup came down in the week and we had a chance to look at it.

"We can't get too hyped up because you lose focus. We had the same kind of hype for the Cardiff game, but we kept a low profile as players and treated it as a normal game.

"I know that's a bit boring to say, but it's the way we have to approach this kind of thing.

"We have played against the likes of (Peter) Crouch and (Jermaine) Pennant — guys who have plied their trade in the top flight for years," said the centre-back.

"It's the same with Andy Johnson and Zamora. It's going to be interesting but it's one that we will relish.

"We want to test ourselves against the top players and this is a chance to do that — but we can't measure what we would be like in the top flight over one or two games.

"On paper it would be an upset, but it wouldn't be a total surprise to me as we have a lot of belief in what we are doing."
