Reports in Scotland suggest that Swansea are about to move for Queen of the South star Stephen Dobbie

The reports have appeared in the Press and Journal and state that the Swans sent a representative to watch Dobbie on Saturday as he scored twice in a 3-2 victory for Queen of the South over St Johnsone (see highlights here - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_div_1/8005179.stm)

The double strike took Dobbie's total for the season to 20 and cemented his place at the top of the Scottish Division One scoring charts.

The report from the Press and Journal reads "SWANSEA are to move for Queen of the South attacker Stephen Dobbie after watching him impress against St Johnstone on Sunday.

"The English Championship side has been monitoring the player’s progress for a number of months and are ready to make a pre-contract offer.

"Swans manager Roberto Martinez, who sampled Scottish football for a short spell at Motherwell in 2002, has already successfully dipped into the Division 1 market to sign leading scorer Jason Scotland from Saints.

"Scotland has been a great success, scoring 53 goals in 102 games since moving to Wales two years ago.

"The Spaniard sent a representative to watch 26-year-old Dobbie in action against Saints and he saw the former Rangers and Hibs forward produce a stunning two- goal performance in Queens’ dramatic 3-2 victory.

"He currently leads the scoring charts with 20 goals for the season and with clubs alerted to his availability, Martinez is ready to make his move.

"Dobbie has promised manager Gordon Chisholm he will not discuss his future with anyone until the Doonhamers are safe.

"First Division Dundee’s interest in the player is well known, but it seems certain he will head south for next season."
