Shaun MacDonald has targetted himself a regular starting place in the Swans line up

MacDonald has started both league games to date for the Swans in the advanced midfield role that was reserved last season for Jordi Gomez.

And, despite being substituted in both games, the Welsh Under 21 international is targetting a permanent place in the midfield as he looks to kick start his club career.

Speaking to the Western Mail, the local product said “If I keep working hard in training and show everyone what I can do then, hopefully, I can keep my place

“The first two results were disappointing but we can give Reading a good game,” he said.

“There are no easy games in this division, so we’ll prepare as thoroughly as we always do.

“It’s a tough league so it’s really important that we all stick together as a team and as a city.

“We’ve got to start climbing the table as quickly as we can.”

MacDonald was also given the honour of captaining his country last week as they moved to the top of their qualification group and he added “It was an absolute honour

“It’s a privilege to captain your team at any level, and we won, which was massive.”
