Swansea manager Paulo Sousa has admitted he missed out on a midfield target yesterday

Sousa admits that the unnamed midfield target was due to arrive at the Liberty yesterday but the club could not complete the deal because of injury problems at the players own club.

Injuries must be a swear word in the Sousa household at the moment with Paulo already without Ferrie Bodde, Joe Allen, Jordi Lopez, Darren Pratley and Guillem Bauza as he tried to piece together a midfield that can hold things until those players return.

But when you are denied the chance to bring in your intended target because of an injury elsewhere you just know that things are not going your way at the moment.

Sousa admitted the breakdown of the deal and told the media “There won’t be any loan players

“We had someone coming yesterday but his club had two injuries in the same sector and he needs to stay with them.

“We had a midfielder lined up but he won’t be coming now.

“I’m not too disappointed because football is like that and sometimes things go well for you, sometimes they don’t.

“We need to rise above these problems and use the players we have got here.

“We need to find the way forward with that team.”
