Dorus De Vries believes the imminent return of Ferrie Bodde will give the team a lift

The Swans keeper believes that Bodde can be a major factor for the Swans this season as he prepares to end his nine month injury absence having returned to training.

And if the Swans can fend off the latest interest in their star from Wigan - and former boss Martinez - De Vries says that they don't need to sign big players - Ferrie's return would be enough.

He told the Evening Post "I've told him personally a couple of times he can be a major factor for us.

"We don't have to sign big players because Ferrie is coming back.   He's getting fitter by the day and he's really hungry to come back from his injury.

"I spoke to him many times over the summer and I talk to him every day.  He's looking forward to it.   He just wants to get on with it.  He just wants to get out there playing football.

"Ferrie Bodde is a Premier League player and he has ambitions to play in the Premier League like everybody else in this team.

"But I'm sure he will still be here - I hope he will.   He had a nasty injury last year and he's really hungry to play again.  He will do his best for Swansea City."
