Matthew Phillips introduces us to the man in charge of Saturday's game at Barnsley

Saturday’s match referee against Barnsley is Rob Shoebridge from Derbyshire; this is his fourth season as a Football League referee and he averages over 2 yellow cards per game and no red cards as yet.

Some of you may remember him as the referee who riled Neil Warnock by not awarding a ‘goal’ by Freddie Sears of Crystal Palace — when the ball clearing went into the net, he has refereed 3 games since that match and this will be his first Championship fixture.

We are yet to lose with Shoebridge in charge, in the previous games he’s taken charge of he has let the game flow and isn’t as pedantic as a lot of the other referees we seem to get. Just hope he’s been to Specsavers since that incident at Ashton Gate.

Stats so far this season:

6 Games,
16 Yellows,
0 Reds.

Games refereed vs Swansea:

Vs Crewe (away) 06/07 Won 1-1
Vs Millwall (away) 07/08 Drew 2-2
Vs Watford (home) 08/09 Won 3-1
