Dorus - Defeats Like That Are Hard To Take
Dorus - Defeats Like That Are Hard To Take

Dorus De Vries was a disappointed man as he looked back on several incidents in the defeat at Forest

The Swansea City goalkeeper looked to have secured the 20th clean sheet of his season against their promotion chasing hosts before a mis-judgement from a stoppage time corner handed Luke Chambers the easiest of chances to head Forest to victory.

But De Vries was refusing to feel sorry for himself over a rare mistake in a season of consistency and told the Western Mail “It’s just a ball that you want to get really aggressive with

“I got my fist to it but I didn’t make a proper contact and then the guy heads it in at the second post.

“You’re just real gutted because that maybe sums up the day.”

Dorus though was also keen to add his words to those of team mates and management when he looked at two key refereweing decisions that ultimately cost the Swans victory

“They had the better chances in the first half and they could have been 1-0 up, but you’re still 0-0 towards the end of the game and I thought we deserved a point. To give it away like that is hard to take because all the key points have gone against us.

“The referee is a big influence in the game and he shouldn’t be that. Everybody in our dressing room is gutted by those decisions going against us.

“It is a clear penalty and if he gives it and sends the defender off then it is three points away from home."

And for the move leading up to the corner? “He (Blackstock) might not have touched it but he was interfering with play,”' he said.

“The linesman doesn’t see it, the referee doesn’t react to it – and again it’s a costly mistake.

“But then the referee gave them so many soft fouls which were lot a lighter than the penalty.

“There were a few times when the centre-half was hanging around Shefki on his neck and pulling him down, but we didn’t get the decision.”
