Alan Pardew is livid

Alan Pardew has spoken about complacency setting in after the win against Yeovil and not just in senior players.

Certainly Saints havent exactly overperformed in the first games of the season and whilst there has been some excuse, the truth of the matter is that the players in the squad at the start of the season were good enough to hold their own in this division.

However in early games they were frequently overwelmed by the likes of Swindon, Huddersfield and even Brentford & Stockport for periods, the opposition were able to raise their game and over perform, whilst many of ours seemed unable to play to their abilities or even with that certain something that puts you in control of a game.

Pardew has now issued a warning to the players that he is not going to allow that complacency continue, worryingly he claims that it has got worse since the win against Yeovil and not better, he seems to be implying that certain elements of the squad seem to think they are better than the rest of the division and are not willing to earn that accolade by going out and proving it on the pitch, however Pardew for one is not going to allow that.

In an interview with the Daily Echo, he also states that he will not accept anything less than a winning mentality and that is music to the ears, fotball is of course not an exact science and no one has quite worked out why at certain times, League 2 sides will beat a premiership club, part of the game though is mentality, if you feel like a winner you will play like one and that is what Pardew wants his squad to remember.

Fine words from Pardew, hopefully the squad will respond, certainly the supporters will, they want to see the manager after putting together a great squad, getting it to play to the levels it is capable
