Dorus De Vries says he understands comments made by manager and chairman after his Swansea departure

The former Swansea City goalkeeper swapped one relegation battle for another when he signed on at Wolverhampton Wanderers and that move prompted Brendan to make some comments about becoming a second choice goalkeeper.

But rather than fight back, De Vries says that he can feel the disappointment in the words as he told the Evening Post “I thought that was pretty harsh from the manager, but that was his decision

“To be fair, they were disappointed with my move. If you see a player leave who you enjoyed working with and wanted to stay, it’s always disappointing.

“So I can understand the point of view taken by the chairman and the manager.

“I had a great time there and I really enjoyed it, especially with Brendan because he made me excel, so I think his quotes were just down to disappointment.

“But I don’t live my life for them, I live my own life and make my own choices.

“I didn’t see the quotes, but my family and friends saw it and read it to me and I could feel the disappointment in the reaction to me leaving,” said de Vries.

“But I can take that as a positive as well because it suggests they really didn’t want to let me go.

“Brendan really wanted me to stay and for a Premier League club to want me is a good thing for me.

“I just wanted a fresh environment and the chance to work with people who have been in and around the Premier League for a while."
