Pompey short up front? Not at the back...

Richie Barker is weighing up whether to give Ben Chorley his Pompey debut when they go to Wycombe on Tuesday night - but the boss could be without a couple of key men at the other end of the pitch.

Missing the trip to Adams Park - a competitive first for the Blues - will be David Connolly (Achilles), Danny East (ankle) and Simon Ferry (hamstring). And Barker has revealed Jed Wallace is also a doubt after coming off during the 2-2 draw at Morecambe with a hip injury.

But Chorley, just signed from Stevenage, could make his Pompey debut after completing a three-match suspension. Barker told the Pompey website: 'He’s chomping at the bit and is desperate to show us what he can do, so I’ve got a tough decision to make.'

Wycombe have had a tough time of late but Barker expects a tricky test against Gareth Ainsowrth's team.

'Their manager was one of the hardest working players around, so there is no way his team will be any different,' he said. 'He’s taken to management extremely well and they’ve got some lads in midfield who are in good form. It’s another tough match against a side who are in a similar position to us in the league table.'
