Lee Camp returns to Loftus Road

QPR have confirmed their biggest signing of the summer so far with goalkeeper Lee Camp arriving from Derby for £300k on a three year contract. Camp has enjoyed two successful loan spells with QPR in the past.

Well, another great Rangers transfer saga comes to a close and I think even the most optimistic of R's fans may have given in on this one.

But Lee Camp has well and truly come home now and he played a colossal part in keeping Rangers in the Championship in his loan spell last year, making 11 appearances and keeping 4 clean sheets.

In his previous loan spell, Camp played more than a huge part in our promotion season 2003/2004. Lee made some outstanding displays in his 12 appearances for the Superhoops. Despite our best efforts to sign him, he returned to Derby and into the first team the following year and went on to win their Young Player of the Year award.

Gaffer John Gregory, on finally getting his man, told the Official QPR Website;

It feels like an absolute eternity since I started competing for the permanent transfer of Lee Camp. For the first time as manager of QPR I have found myself in a position where I can pay a transfer fee. I have been given a small transfer kitty so I have to spend the money very wisely.

Lee played an integral part in helping us maintain our Championship status last season. He is an outstanding goalkeeper and his arrival is a massive boost, not only to the squad but also to our supporters.

Somehow we have managed to put together the £300,000 it has cost us in bringing Lee to Loftus Road, which has been paid directly by QPR and not by any other outside sources.

When we sold Lee Cook, Chairman Gianni Paladini promised me there would be a percentage of Cookie's fee that I could spend in the market this summer, and he has been true to his word."

WELOME HOME and GOOD LUCK, LEE CAMP!!
