Its the early stages of the Europa League and of course the big guns from the Champions league are yet to come in, but Saints are an early front runner in the betting stakes.

Saints have been listed as joint 6th favourite alongside Olympic Marseille & St Ettienne to lift the Europa League trophy.

Saints are currently 25/1 with Borussia Dortmund favourites at 9/1 followed by Napoli 2nd at 14/1, Fiorentina, Spurs & Liverpool joint 3rd at 16/1 and then Athletico Bilbao 18/1.

Then in 5th place are Scalke & Villarreal at 20/1 and then in joint 6th comes Saints with St Ettienne joinig us and Marseille in joint 6th.

There are some big names who are behind Saints in the betting, Anderlecht are 33/1, West ham are 66/1 and our opponents this week Vitesse are 80/1.

Groningen who we recently turned over 3-0 in pre season are rated at 50/1

Of course these are the initial odds from the bookies and it may be you will get better odds on all of these teams when the teams who have dropped down from the Champions league join the competition, but it does highlight that in the qualifying rounds at least Saints have little to fear from most of the teams in the mixer.

StRipper added 19:58 - Jul 27 I think Toussaint is just a trolling skate with nothing of interest to comment on about Portsmouth. Van Dijk has in no way gone to the Toffees. Just an article in the Mail saying Martinez willing to pay £10m for him. I guess an indication that Stones is off.
