Fans Clearly Say Swans To Beat Sunderland
Thursday, 20th Aug 2015 20:19 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

It was predictable that our latest site poll that asked what the result would be against Sunderland this weekend would end up the clearest one of the season so far with an overwhelming majority voting for a Swans win.

There is no real surprise to that when you consider just how the two sides season's have started. The Swans have four points from six thanks to a comfortable win over Newcastle and an excellent draw at Chelsea. Sunderland on the other hand lost 4-2 at Leicester on the opening day and were beaten 3-1 at home by Norwich last weekend.

That result saw the Stadium of Light with loads of empty seats well before the end of the game and Sunderland widely criticised in many places for the way they are playing.

So it is little wonder that the result of this poll was so comprehensive but of course we should be cautious when approaching a game like this. Sunderland certainly have many points to prove and where better to start doing that then against a side that has attracted so many plaudits again this season.

I am sure that their management will be telling the players how quick things can change with a good result on Saturday and we should not forget that at this stage of the season, a home win will leave them just one point behind us. That won't be lost on them either.

On our side though we have Garry Monk who we know will not look at this as an easy fixture and prepare his side as carefully as he always does so complacency will certainly not cause us a problem

What we have to hope is that the optimism of the fans who voted in this poll is not misplaced but I don't think it will be.

What will the result be against Sunderland?
