Arsenal Man Injury Opens Door For Shelvey?

England are going to find themselves without Jack Wilshere for their qualifying ties against San Marino and Switzerland next month and that could open the door for Jonjo Shelvey to come into the squad and stake his claim for a place in the England midfield.

Shelvey has started the season in brilliant form and, as you can see below, is creating more chances than anyone else in the Premier League which for me should be enough for a recall to his national squad

England look sure certainties for a place in the Euro 2016 finals next year and they should in reality secure this from their next two games after starting the qualification process with six straight wins.

The door for Shelvey looks slightly more open now that Arsenal have confirmed that Wilshere will not play in the games "It is too early to think he would be playing for England, but after the international break he has a chance," said Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Shelvey is being widely tipped to get the recall to the national side and this is the perfect time for it to happen with the finals just around the corner and on current form it is hard to believe that he could be overlooked and Garry Monk believes he can get even better

"It's important he continues to work even harder, but he listens and wants to do it. Hopefully he gets even better" said Monk.

Roy Hodgson will name his squad for the games on Tuesday this week
