Leicester Was Best Option For Nathan

Garry Monk was questioned at last night's fans forum about the move to Leicester on deadline day for Nathan Dyer who joined the Foxes on a season long loan in his quest for first team football.

Monk responded to the loan by recalling Mo Barrow from Blackburn and he revealed that he had one too many players in the wide positions and that someone was heading out on loan.

The Evening Post are reporting that there was a seven figure loan fee involved which shows how much Leicester wanted to land the player who has served the Swans so well.

It was the surprise that the Swans served up on deadline day but Monk told the audience that it was the right move for Nathan and he certainly didn't rule out him coming back to Swansea at the end of the spell.

"I felt I had five players for the two wide positions, which is one more than we needed, and that’s why I decided to send Mo out to get some game-time,” the Swansea manager explained.

“That left us with Nathan, Wayne, Jeff and Andre who have all done very well.

“Then we got the offer for Nathan out of the blue and late in the day.

“It was a fantastic offer from Leicester for the club and also for Nathan.

“We chatted about it and came to an agreement that it was the best opportunity for him.

"Ultimately he wanted some more game-time and I was willing to let him go because we were able to recall Mo, who is an exciting talent.”
