Swansea City v Everton - Match Preview
Saturday, 19th Sep 2015 08:53 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

The Swans will look to put the misery of their defeat at Watford behind them this afternoon when they welcome Everton to the Liberty Stadium and in the process we search for a first ever league win against them.

We went into last weekend's fixture with confidence running high with two wins and two draws in our opening four games of the season and a place in the division's top four to boot.

Ninety minutes later and it was a defeat which was pretty much given up without a fight and a realisation that we still have much work to do if we are to take a place in the Top 6 at the end of the season that many are predicting for us.

I am sure that Garry Monk will have used the memories of last week's defeat to spur on the Swans this week and he will have demanded a performance from his players to erase the thoughts of what was one of the weakest displays of his managerial reign.

We have only ever recorded one competitive win over Everton - the Capital One Cup win last season - and in twenty previous meetings have never recorded a league triumph.

Everton have had a good start to the season themselves and they beat Champions Chelsea last week to lift themselves one place above the Swans in the table but only ahead on goal difference.

Roberto Martinez of course is a former Swansea manager and he will be wanting to get another win over us as his former club and of course Garry Monk as his former captain.

Team News

One of the things that always happens after a defeat is that people call for wholesale changes from a side that has performed so well this season.

Nobody can doubt that it was not pleasant to watch last week but these players don't become bad overnight and if I was Garry I wouldn't be looking to make many changes.

It is time to start Jefferson again and return to the side that served us so well in the early weeks of the season which for me will see us line up as below

Score Prediction

This really is a tough one to call for me. Both sides have started the season well and both gained results that we probably weren't expected to get.

Of course there is the factor that we have never beaten Everton in the league but as mentioned above I think that Monk will have used the factor of last week's defeat with wanting to break that duck as spurs.

The Swans will come out believing that they owe us a performance and I think that will be the deciding factor as the Swans run out 1-0 winners.

Let's hope so anyway.
