Saints In Competition With Liverpool And Arsenal For Slovakian Friday, 25th Sep 2015 13:04 According to the latest media reports Saints are about to go head to head with Liverpool and Arsenal for the services of a Slovakian winger. Saints are acknowledged across Europe these days as one of the Premier developers of young talent to such an extent that Brendan Rodgers refuses to shop anywhere else than St Mary's these days when he is looking to buy developed talent. But these days for the progressive football club its not just about scouring Europe for the big stars its about spotting them young and Saints are starting to cast their net wider these days Therefore it's no surprise they are linked with Slovakian winger Nikolas Spalek. Spalek is just 18 and if the Daily Star is to be believed Saints, Arsenal & Liverpool all had scouts in attendance to see him score for his current club Zilina in their Slovakian Super League win over reigning champions Trencin on Wednesday. Spalek came on as a 59th minute sub in the 4-1 win and scored wih his first touch. Spalek only joined Zilina from Spartak Trnava in January and is contracted for another two years, now haing broken into first team contention and winning a cap for the Slovakian U21's he is being touted (probably by his agent) as the next big thing in European football. So we shall see how much of this is truth or whether its just pure speculation, what is for sure is that these days Premier League academies are more and more seeing talent from Europe brought in and not relying solely on UK born layers, perhaps this is not a good thing in the long term not only for the Premier League but the England International side Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
