Ki Sung-Yeung will battle players from Chelsea and Southampton for the South East Asian award when the Asian Football Awards take place at Wembley later this month.

The ceremony will take place on November 19 and Ki is up against a fellow Premier League footballer in Maya Yoshida but also Ji So-Yun who plays for Chelsea Ladies.

Ki is Swansea's own player of the year at the moment following an impressive campaign last term which saw him back on the scoresheet on a regular basis after a year away from the club at Sunderland.

His presence in midfield was valuable as the Swans recorded a record Premier League finish of 8th and a record points tally of 56 in Garry Monk's first full season in charge.

His form this season has not yet reached the levels of last but it was still enough to see him in the final three for the award but it is the inclusion of Ji that is expected to take the award after her exploits for Chelsea.

Dubbed 'The Korean Messi', Ji's form saw her land the Player of the Year prize at the 2014 FA Women's Football Awards, before later being named by her fellow professionals as the PFA Women's Player of the Year.

Ji carried that sparkling form through to this season, helping Chelsea to an historic double and scoring the only goal of the game in the Women's FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
