Britton Leads The Way
Sunday, 20th Mar 2016 17:51 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

Leon Britton is leading the way to be crowned the player of the season by those who have cast their votes on the Swans performances to date this season.

After every game we ask readers to cast their votes against all players in the game and as Britton heads towards his fifth man of the match award following yesterday's 1-0 win over Aston Villa he is ahead in the standings for player of the year.

Britton has made 22 appearances this season and has an average rating of 6.66 which puts him at the head of the queue ahead of captain Ashley Williams who has a rating of 6.61 from his 31 appearances. Technically, Nathan Dyer splits the two of them but given his low number of appearances he would not be counted towards the final standings.

Latest Standings

It has been quite a remarkable turnaround for Britton who looked to be on his way out of the club last summer with rumours of a move to MLS with Garry Monk seemingly ready to let him go but as it turned around he has proven again to be one of our most consistent performers.

Sadly for us we know that Leon is coming to the final twilight years of his career and at some point we know that we have to replace him properly but it is probably a clear indication of how we have performed in the transfer market that he is still one of our most consistent performers.

With over 500 Swansea appearances under his belt we know that he will have rightly earned the tag legend for the Swans and whilst we have him we should enjoy him as much as we can. And the ratings suggest that we probably are.

Who is your player of the season?
