Saints Go Head To Head With Manchester United For Wanyama Replacement
Thursday, 7th Jul 2016 07:30

France Football are reporting that Saints are looking to replace Victor Wanyama with a player from Monaco, but they face competition from Manchester United.

The latest French player to be linked with Saints is Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko, who appears to be in the Victor Wanyama mould as a strong athletic defensive midfielder.

Bakayoko who will turn 22 in August has struggled for game time at Monaco and started only 14 Ligue 1 games for the French side, but he is still rated highly by the club, although they accept that if he wants regular football he will have to leave them.

Stoke City have been linked with a bid and strangely they always seem to be linked with the same players as Saints suggesting that both clubs have a preferred agent mutual to both of them.

Manchester United are also linked which would suggest that Morgan Schneiderlin's days at Old Trafford are numbered, although Everton may be in the pole position for his signature.

How much substance this rumour actually has is open to speculation, after all since the arrival of Claude Puel, literally every player of French origin or having played in France is being linked with a move to St Mary's, this one may have more than most though, given that Saints actually need a player of this mould.

If Morgan is available we should look to buy him back.

Id love to see Morgan back but lets face it Players leave saints for a higher wage and makes the possibility of a return extremely unlikely. Chambers may be different as he is nearing the end of a deal wouldn't be on massive money and we might look for an initial loan

Morgan will go to Everton, in reality an embarrassing step down for him but he will still be on the very big money. Coming back to us would mean a big pay cut and an admission of failure.

Whether Morgan goes to Everton may depend on his relationship with Koeman- if he was one of the rumoured ones who didn't get on with him, then he will probably look towards a foreign team ( probably French). Sadly, he won't come back, another one who looked at the bank balance and playing in Europe before evaluating his true value to his loyal fans.

I don't think we need to concentrate so much on a VW replacement as we already have Romeu. I would rather we got a new CB at least as god as we have already, a back up GK because if we lose FF for any length we are nadgered again, and a striker to replace Pelle.
