Chelsea Captain Turns Down Swans?
Tuesday, 10th Jan 2017 22:38 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

Today's papers report that Chelsea captain John Terry has turned down a potential short term loan deal with the Swans although I remain to be convinced as to whether we actually made an enquiry.

The transfer window must be a newspaper's dream come true as you can talk about tenuous links and turn them into factual moments.

Terry was first linked with a move to Swansea when Harry Redknapp talked about wanting to take charge and bringing Terry and Frank Lampard to Swansea as part of the deal.

The Swans clearly looked beyond Redknapp and appointed Paul Clement as the new manager but that just served to strengthen the media's ability to make the link because of Clement's charge with Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge.

And now we have the convenience to be able to say that Terry has turned down the chance of a move without actually really needing to know whether the move was an option in the first place.

And when you have done that bit then there is an easy one to move forward with by linking Terry with a move elsewhere and now it is Bournemouth who are reportedly chasing his signature.

It may not be the popular view but I am quite glad that we have gone beyond wanting to sign a player like Terry who, at 36 I do not believe is what we need at this point in time.

Anyway, not that that view matters as technically he has turned us down....
