Taylor's Swansea Time Is Up

The Swans and Aston Villa have just about wrapped up the deal that will see Neil Taylor head to Villa along with £5m and Jordan Ayew following in the footsteps of his brother last season and joining the Swans.

The move was confirmed by Paul Clement this afternoon who admitted that he had spoken to the Welsh international this morning and he wanted to take on the new challenge that Villa would give him after 6 and a half years at the Liberty.

During that time Taylor has played close on 200 games for the club despite missing the best part of a full season with a broken leg sustained against Sunderland early in the 2012/13 season.

Speaking at today's press conference ahead of the Swans clash with Southampton tomorrow night Clement said “It’s not done yet, but it’s close to being done.

“We brought Martin Olsson in from Norwich which meant we had three left-backs, but I only really need two.

“Neil has been a great servant for this club. I had a really nice discussion with him this morning.

“He said he wanted to take this opportunity and I supported that. it’s the right time for to have a new challenge and we wish him all the best.

“We will then bring in a young offensive talent in Jordan Ayew. He can play out wide or in the middle and I like that versatility in a player."
