Saints Launch Local Residents Ticket Offer !
Friday, 7th Jul 2017 09:46 by Arron Sanders

A new "Local Residents" ticket offer has been launched by Saints, Arron Sanders runs the rule over it for The Ugly Inside

Saints have today announced the launch of a new Local Residents’ Ticket Offer, making an effort to show its appreciation for the local community around St Mary’s Stadium. This is not the first time it has been done, in the early days of the stadium and at other times the club have rolled ou similar deals.

As a thank you, the club will be making a number of tickets available to local residents, priced at just £10 each.

Up to 5,000 tickets will be available during the course of the season, spread across category B fixtures, starting with the visit of Swansea City on the opening day.

The eligibility is determined by postcode, with households in the SO14 0, SO14 1 and SO14 5 areas qualifying.

Interim Managing Director Toby Steele said:

“St Mary’s is a vibrant community that we are proud to be a part of, and we hope this scheme will help show how much we value the support of those who live in the vicinity of the stadium.”

Residents who live in the above postcode areas will shortly be receiving leaflets with full information about the offer, as well as an email if they are already registered with us.

It's a nice touch from the club to launch such an offer, however without trying to being pessimistic I am sure those who do not qualify will be asking why only a selection of supporters have been given this offer.

The terms and conditions state that you must be a permanent resident at the address of the postcodes in question and tickets will only be sent out to that address and proof of address is required upon collection with a recent utility bill being required.

So for those wanting to try and manipulate the system to qualify for the offer, the club appear to well aware that these attempts may come.

It's great to see the club repaying the fans with offers such as these, and it's actions such as these that make me a proud supporter of our club.

What are do you make of this latest offer from club Saints fans? Do you agree or disagree with the limitations imposed by it?

How about some £10.00 tickets for OAPs who live over thirty miles away and pay for expensive travel in addition to tickets. Plus other good or worthy causes.

good idea - I'm SO18 BTW - I don't begrudge anyone's good fortune. It makes perfect sense that those that are close to the ground are offered this opportunity

What about the fans who have paid shed loads over the years and follow home and away ? Surely their loyalty should be rewarded first ?

Local people have the lowest cost to attend matches already. This makes no sense to me.
The club would get more supporters coming - and widen their catchment area, if the discounts were offered for people who have higher travel costs instead. To take a family including the disgraceful ferry cost from isle of wight for example is simply impossible on a regular basis. I know the club have worked in the past with Red Funnel in this respect, but if more was done, then they would get more through the doors.

The club can do what it wants obviously but this strikes me as grossly selective and unfair. Why are people living within a burger's sniff of the stadium better or more deserving fans than those living in Swindon or Tonnes?

Sounds like a scheme dreamed up by a buffoon!
