Out of contract winger Donal McDemott has seemingly not travelled with the rest of the squad to Tenerife and has been pictured training with League 2 side Swindon Town.

McDermott was surprisingly offered a new deal at the end of last season despite just a handful of starts for the club during 2016-17, but it's looked like his future lay away from Spotland for some time now. He was close to a move to Chesterfield before the offer was withdrawn by the Spireites at the last minute.

His contract at Dale officially ran out a week ago, and there's been no news as to his status at Dale. But this news at least confirms that he is training elsewhere.

One further aspect to this is that Swindon are managed by former Dale assistant Dave Flitcroft (and Hilly's best mate) so you can't imagine this happening without the full knowledge (and blessing) of Keith Hill.
