Olsson - We Showed Good Spirit
Saturday, 12th Aug 2017 20:50 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

It may have been a case of Southampton having 29 shots at goal at St Mary's this afternoon but Martin Olsson called it spot on when he talked about the team spirit pulling the Swans through and earning us a point.

It was one of those displays that you would always call backs to the wall but defensively we managed to keep Southampton at bay with a mixture of good defending and wasteful finishing.

Martin Olsson played his part in that defensive display continuing on his excellent displays at the back end of last season.

Speaking to the official site after the game, Olsson said “We knew it was going to be tough,

“We had to dig deep and work hard. We may not have played our best today, but we showed character and team spirit to keep that clean sheet.

“It’s a long season and it’s a good start with a point and a clean sheet.”

Olsson will take the positives from this game into next weekend's clash with Manchester United although I suspect he will hope that the defence is not called into so much action and the midfield and attack are focused on more.
