Britton - We Can Beat Man Utd

Leon Britton believes that Manchester United can be beaten at the Liberty this weekend as the Swans open their home Premier League campaign looking to build on a hard fought draw at Southampton last week.

On the face of it the match stats from last Saturday's 0-0 draw would tell you that we could count ourselves lucky to come away with a point but if you wanted to draw the positives the a strong defence is the basis of every good side and we certainly had that last weekend.

OK so we may not have the counter attack prowess of say Leicester who won the league two seasons ago surrendering the majority of possession but what we do have under Paul Clement is a strong defence as we showed again last weekend.

And with that foundation there is no reason to believe that we couldn't upset the form book again against a side who were the first Premier League leaders of the new season following a 4-0 demolition of West Ham.

Captain Leon Britton certainly believes that is the case I watched Manchester United last weekend and they were very impressive,” he said.

“They have spent a lot of money in the summer and it looks like their signings have had an impact straightaway.

“But we have proved many times that we can give anyone a game at home and that’s what we’ll look to do this weekend.

“Since the manager came in at the beginning of January, our home form has been very good

“It wasn’t there in the first half of last season, but we then produced in the second half of last year and that was a big reason why we stayed up.

“In every season where we have been successful since I have been at the club, our home form has been crucial.

“We have always picked up points away from home along the way, but home form has been the key.

“That is where you can put the foundations down for a good season and we want to do the same again this season.”
