Give Him Cash Says Mourinho

Paul Clement was backed by Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho yesterday after the visiting manager watched his side beat the Swans 4-0 at the Liberty on a frustrating afternoon.

Mourinho was understandably upbeat after the game but urged the Swans board to support one of his former coaches with a spending spree following the sale of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton during midweek.

Mourinho said: “He has lost Gylfi, but also Fernando because Fernando is injured and is also an important player for them, he gives them other kinds of solutions and gives them a different threat.

“I can imagine Fernando playing together with the kid Tammy or Jordan so Paul is going to have more solutions.

“But I hope that the £45m is to spend. Paul did good work last season. He has one point after two matches, one of them against one of the top six or seven teams so it is not a drama, so keep going.”
