Do the Swans really need another striker : Renewed interest in Charlie Kelman
Thursday, 8th Oct 2020 12:04 by Steph Thomas

As reported by this site back in early August Swansea City did make an inquiry for Southend United striker Charlie Kelman, the inquiry was rebuffed by the shrimpers, but we hear today that interest is still there.

What do we know about Charlie Kelman
Queens Park Rangers are now in the mix for his signature and along with the swans have been admirers of the 18 year old American Basildon born player this summer. On August 8th 2020 Swansea made an inquiry and what was described as a 'silly bid' for Kelman, QPR since then have also had bids knocked back. He is young but started his playing career at FC Dallas having spent a large part of his life being raised in the USA. He has played for the USA under 18 and under 20 sides. On returning to Essex he signed for the shrimpers. On his debut he scored a goal from inside his own half of the pitch for Southend United.

Not bad for a debut goal
Interestingly Championship clubs with an interest in his signature would have noted he has been left out of recent Southend selections. The real question for Kelman is 'Do I want to be loaned out to DC United if I sign for the swans' That was the speculation a month or so ago. And if the signing would have happened then it is more than plausible that DC United would have coughed the money up for the signing and loan time.
However, we hear today Kelman is back on the radar with 8 days to go before the EFL deadline closes, the question is as well, do the swans need another striker ? farming him out to DC United may provide the answer, but Kelman is a very young man already back and settled in the UK. For that reason we place QPR favourites if Southend chairman Ron Martin can be persuaded to part company with this highly rated youngster, who can still be selected for England.
